Henry Lin, Ph.D.
Dr. Henry Lin is a co-founder and CEO of ANIVIA Medical. With a background in innovative medical technology, he brings extensive knowledge and expertise to the company. He has successfully executed multiple first-in-human clinical studies globally, showcasing his ability to effectively bridge the gap between technical and medical teams. Throughout his career, Dr. Lin has demonstrated a proven track record of securing multi-million-dollar investments from reputable institutional investors. He holds a Ph.D. in Medicine from the University of Queensland, Australia and a Master’s degree in Biotechnology. In addition, he has completed a postdoctoral fellowship at Massachusetts General Hospital and Harvard Medical School and holds an A.L.M. in Management from Harvard University, where he was honored with a distinguished academic achievement award.
John Gilbert, Ph.D.
Dr. John Gilbert is a co-founder and Chief Technology Officer of ANIVIA Medical, where he also serves on the Board of Directors. With over 50 issued U.S. patents and extensive experience as both a founding CEO and CTO, Dr. Gilbert is a specialist in start-up operations, technology assessment, regulation, IP creation, and business model development in the medical technology industry. He played a pivotal role in inventing ANIVIA Medical‘s extracorporeal platform technology and establishing the company’s intellectual property portfolio. Dr. Gilbert holds an A.B. and M.A. from Harvard University, a Ph.D. in physics from the California Institute of Technology, and completed a postdoctoral fellowship at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
Leroy Yau
Leroy is an experienced executive and senior advisor with over 30 years in consulting, special situations, and venture building. A former Partner at EY in Hong Kong and Taiwan, he has led operational restructurings, cross-border mergers, and impact investments across global markets. His expertise spans corporate governance, enterprise risk management, and strategic innovation, guiding organizations through growth and transformation.
John Sasso
Seasoned medtech leader with 25+ years of experience, including roles at Haemonetics, Radi Medical (now Abbott), and MITRE. Expertise in operations, commercialization, and regulatory affairs, with a proven track record in strategy and execution.
Thomas Shannon
Global marketing and business development executive with 30+ years in cardiovascular and cardiopulmonary sectors. Led commercialization, brand strategy, and product launches at Medtronic, Getinge, and Fresenius Medical Care. Former clinical perfusionist with expertise in ECLS, ECMO, and disruptive medtech commercialization.
Julia Yuan
Regulatory and clinical expert with 25+ years in the pharmaceutical and medtech industries. Led clinical operations and regulatory strategy at IQVIA, Boston Scientific, and AstraZeneca. Deep expertise in clinical trials, quality systems, and global regulatory pathways, with a strong focus on bringing innovative medical technologies to market.

John Gilbert, Ph.D.
Dr. John Gilbert is a co-founder and Chief Technology Officer of ANIVIA Medical, where he also serves on the Board of Directors. Lim Cheung, Ph.D.
Dr. Lim Cheung has 20+ years’ experience in medical device development in radiology and minimally invasive surgeries. He oversaw every stage from concept, R&D, engineering, manufacturing, quality, regulatory affairs, clinical trials to business operations at both large multinationals and small ventures. In previous roles as head of R&D, patent inventor, and chief designer at Hologic and Smith & Nephew in Boston, Dr. Cheung led teams that developed products generating billions of dollars in cumulative revenue and profit. He has a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from the California Institute of Technology and a Ph.D. in Physics from the University of Maryland. He held research positions at NASA and Harvard University.
John Sasso
John is a skilled professional responsible for day-to-day project management of product development, manufacturing operations, and quality activities, as well as serving as the Management Representative and Person Responsible for Regulatory Compliance (PRRC). With previous experience at Radi Medical Systems, Haemonetics, Neoventa Medical, Strohl Medical Technologies, and Q-Urology, John has a successful track record of integrating project management methodologies and commercializing medical devices from both domestic and foreign manufacturers. John is also experienced in international business and has brought two foreign medical device companies into the United States, one of which grew to $28M in annual revenues. John received his B.S.E.E. and M.S.E.E. from Tufts University and his M.B.A from Bentley College, graduating as the Class Valedictorian.

Jeffrey L. Saver, MD

Director, UCLA Stroke Center
Dr. Jeffrey Saver is an internationally recognized leader in acute stroke treatment, stroke prevention, and clinical trial design. As founding Director of the UCLA Stroke Center, he co-led the development of mechanical thrombectomy from its early invention at UCLA through the pivotal 2015 breakthrough trials that established it as a global standard of care for ischemic stroke. He served as Principal Investigator of the NIH-NINDS FAST-MAG trial and as Global Co-Principal Investigator of the landmark SWIFT PRIME trial published in the New England Journal of Medicine. He has led more than 50 multicenter clinical trials and authored over 870 peer-reviewed publications. His honors include the American Heart Association’s Distinguished Scientist Award and the World Stroke Organization’s Lifetime Research Award. Dr. Saver earned his A.B. from Harvard College and his M.D. from Harvard Medical School. He completed his neurology residency in the Harvard-Longwood Program and fellowships in behavioral and cognitive neurology at the University of Iowa and in vascular neurology at Brown University.
Yih-Sharng Chen, MD, Ph.D.
Professor, Cardiovascular Surgery, National Taiwan University Hospital
Professor Yih-Sharng Chen is an internationally recognized cardiovascular surgeon and authority in extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) and extracorporeal cardiopulmonary resuscitation (ECPR). He currently leads active heart transplantation and mechanical circulatory support programs at National Taiwan University Hospital, and his publications in ECPR have been a major influence on global practice in the ECMO field. He served as Chairman of the Asia-Pacific ELSO Chapter (APELSO) from 2017 to 2019 and as President of the Taiwan Society of Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgery in 2017. He has authored more than 200 peer-reviewed papers and serves as a reviewer for leading journals in critical care, cardiothoracic surgery, and cardiology. Professor Chen earned his medical degree and Ph.D. from National Taiwan University, with additional post-residency training in Japan, the University of Michigan (USA), and Papworth Hospital (UK).
Kevin N. Sheth, MD
Professor of Neurology and Neurosurgery, Yale School of Medicine
Founding Director, Yale Center for Brain & Mind Health
Dr. Kevin Sheth is an internationally recognized leader in acute neurological injury, stroke, and neurocritical care. His research focuses on cerebral edema, intracerebral hemorrhage, and secondary brain injury, with particular emphasis on therapies that limit neurologic damage following severe stroke. He has served as principal investigator on multiple NIH-funded multicenter clinical trials and has authored landmark studies on brain swelling and acute stroke management. His work has informed national stroke treatment guidelines, including analyses through the American Heart Association’s Get With The Guidelines–Stroke program and pivotal investigations of thrombolysis and thrombectomy outcomes. Dr. Sheth earned his A.B. from Johns Hopkins University and his M.D. from the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine. He completed his internship at Brigham and Women’s Hospital, his neurology residency and chief residency in the Partners Neurology Program (Massachusetts General Hospital and Brigham & Women’s Hospital), and fellowships in critical care and vascular neurology at Harvard. His leadership in clinical trial design, neurocritical care innovation, and translational neuroscience continues to advance the field of stroke and brain injury management worldwide.
Reza Jahan, MD
Professor of Interventional Neuroradiology and Neurosurgery, David Geffen School of Medicine, UCLA
Member, UCLA Stroke Center
Dr. Reza Jahan is a leading expert in endovascular treatment of acute ischemic stroke, brain aneurysms, and cerebrovascular malformations. With more than 25 years of experience and over 1,500 cerebrovascular procedures performed, he has helped define modern interventional neuroradiology practice. He served as Senior Author on the landmark SWIFT PRIME trial published in the New England Journal of Medicine, which established mechanical thrombectomy as the standard of care for large vessel occlusion stroke. He has trained more than 30 physicians in interventional neuroradiology nationwide and has been recognized as a Super Doctors® Southern California honoree from 2023 to 2026. Dr. Jahan earned his B.S. in biochemistry from UCLA and his M.D. from the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA, where he was honored with the Leo G. Rigler Award and the Dean’s Scholar Award. He completed his medicine internship and radiology residency at UCLA, followed by subspecialty training in the UCLA Division of Interventional Neuroradiology.
Dayu Teng, Ph.D.
Professor, University of California, San Diego
Co-Director, Whitaker Center for Biomedical Engineering (WCBE), UC San Diego Institute of Engineering in Medicine
Dr. Dayu Teng is a translational researcher whose work bridges vascular biology, ischemic injury, and medical device safety. His research examines endothelial responses and vascular trauma during mechanical thrombectomy and other endovascular procedures, with the goal of improving procedural safety and clinical outcomes in stroke care. He has developed validated in vitro and large-animal platforms used to evaluate vascular response to intervention and has published widely on thrombectomy-related endothelial injury and therapeutic hypothermia. As Co-Director of the Whitaker Center for Biomedical Engineering at the UC San Diego Institute of Engineering in Medicine, Dr. Teng leads cross-disciplinary device research programs. He earned his Ph.D. from the University of California, San Diego. His research and technical leadership continue to shape the development of safer, next-generation neurovascular and critical care technologies.
